Step 1: This is the area where you will be installing the Argos. This
is behind the driver's seat. Move the seat all the way forward
to give yourself plenty of room in which to work. Tools required will
be a Torx bit set (screwdriver) - available at all hardware stores.
Step 2: There is a decorative silver bracket that has four screws
in it. Remove all four screws.
Step 3: In front of the CD changer is a decorative panel that
is simply snapped in place. With a little authority, grab the top
edge and pull toward the front of the car.
Step 4: Remove the large screw that holds the side panel in place.
Step 5: The plastic sill plate trim on the drivers door jamb can
be lifted to reveal that the corner of the side panel. The panel is held
in place under a tab. Bend the panel slightly (it won't damage, it is fiberglass)
to get it out from underneath the tab. You can now remove the side
panel.
Step 6: Side panel removed and exposed electronics.
Step 7: This connector is attached to the PSE. You will be removing
the PSE if one is installed. If you do not already have a factory
phone system, no PSE will be there and you can skip to Step 11
.
Step 8: With a short phillips screw driver or right angle screwdriver,
remove the four screws that hold in the PSE.
Step 9: You must unclip the fiber optic cable from the side
of the PSE to remove the PSE. There is a simple push button on
the connector to release it.
Step 10: Plug the fiber optic cable into this port.
Step 11: Plug in the large DB25 plug that was removed from the
PSE. If you had no phone installed before, this plug will be laying
in the general area where we are working. Zip tie it securely to
the ARGOS.
Step 12: Slide the ARGOS unit into the bracket and zip tie in
place to prevent it from rattling.
Step 13: Simply reverse the dissassembly procedure and then
perform the 'Pair Phone' function and you are done!
Total time to complete this project is typically 20 minutes.
THE NEXT STEPS ARE IF YOUR CAR DID NOT HAVE A PHONE BEFORE
Step 14: Lift the center console lid and remove the two torx screws at the back to remove the rear cover panel
Step 15: Lift off the rear tunnel cover
Step 16: Locate an INLINE connector like this one
Step 17: Open the metal gate with your finger nail and slide the fiber out
Step 18: Connect the INLINE connector on the cable we sent you to the exposed fiber you just slid out. Then connect the EXPOSED fiber end we sent you to the INLINE connector that was already in the car. Close the gates on both connectors
